2022 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles have high hopes for the season. An active offseason put pressure on Sirianni’s incoming squad this year. The team is looking for a strong finish to the 2021 season, but is hoping for a better playoff finish. The growth of Jalen Hurts is a major topic of discussion around this team, and there is no doubt that Hurts will play a huge role in the team’s success or failure. I feel like second-year coach Nick Sirianni is avoiding the heat a bit this offseason, but he’s just as concerned. Sirianni has yet to prove himself as an NFL head coach. However, this team has more positives than negatives, one of which is a fairly favorable schedule.

Record Prediction: 11-6
Detroit (A) – W
Minnesota (H) – L
Washington (A) – W
jacksonville – W
Arizona (A) – L
Dallas (H) – L

Pittsburgh (H) – L
Houston (A) – W
Washington (H) – W
Indianapolis (A) – W
Green Bay (H) – L
Tennessee (H) – W
New York (A) – L
Chicago (A) – W
Dallas (A) – W
New Orleans (H) – W
New York (H) – W

I believe the Eagles will take the NFC East crown this year. They should be favorites in the division and should have no problem winning. Although a three-game losing streak in the middle of the season put the city on the sidelines, this team will rebound in the second half of the season and win a lot of games. I also believe they will have a home playoff game and at least one playoff winner.

Team Awards

Offensive MVP: Dallas Goedert

Dallas Goedert is poised to have a big season. This is mostly true because Goedert is officially the starting point. The past few seasons, he has had to battle for playing time with Zach Ertz. Without Ertz, we’ll see how dominant Goedert is. Now you add AJ Brown and there will be more room for a big tight end. Expect Goedert to be the Eagles’ best offensive player this season.

Defensive MVP: Haason Reddick

This is still a signing that flies under the radar. However, Reddick finished fifth in the league with the most sacks over the last three seasons. The Eagles have been missing a dynamic pass rusher for some time, and I expect Reddick to be in the backfield a lot this season. He had 12.5 sacks in 2020 and 11 in 2021. His total will reach at least 15 sacks this season. Watch as the Camden native has a big year at the Linc.

Most Improved Player: Brandon Graham

Even though BG has proven himself to be a force on the Eagles defense year after year, people are still skeptical of his abilities. Even if he loses his Achilles tear, I expect Graham to be the same player. He has proven NFL and Eagle fans wrong throughout his career. The owner of the greatest game in Eagles history will have a significant impact on the Eagles defense.

Biggest offensive disappointment: Miles Sanders

It was a difficult choice for me. I think Sanders will have a good season and actually find the end zone. However, I don’t think he will do enough to cement his place in this team and will be out next season. Sanders should have a monster year to earn a contract extension in a league that doesn’t favor running backs. Highly respected throughout his career, the player has yet to prove himself as a defender in this league. Sanders has the talent to do it, but whether that talent shows up on the field is a different story.

Biggest defensive disappointment: James Bradberry

To begin with, I’m a big fan of this signing. This makes the Eagles secondary strong and creates a formidable cornerback duo. But my biggest concern is that he is a former New York Giant. It never works when the Eagles sign a player from a division rival. Bradberry is going to have a great year for the Eagles, but I don’t think he’ll be the number two cornerback that everyone expects.
