Miles Teller will take to one of late night comedy’s biggest stages next weekend as the actor he’s about to be. The first guest on the upcoming 48th season of Saturday Night Live.

A native of Downingtown, who played Tom Cruise’s protégé in Top Gun. Maverick will be joined by musical guest Kendrick Lamar in his third appearance on the sketch comedy show on Saturday, October 1st.

SNL took over social media on Tuesday to announce the guest lineup for the first three shows of the season. Teller reposted the iconic sticky note attached to a cork board that posted his name on Twitter.

This is Teller’s first time hosting SNL, which follows “Top Gun. to the success of the film Maverick, which continues in 1986. He also starred Pennsylvania native Taylor Swift’s 2021 video for “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” (From the Vault).

Not just Teller grows up visiting the Jersey Shore, a place he frequented recently last month as he posed with the staff at The Ugly Mug in Cape May, he’s also a huge Philly sports fan. Teller has often shown his support for home teams, posting a tribute to the Eagles during their home opener on Monday.

He also showed his love in person. In June he threw out the first pitch At a Phillies game on Top Gun Night, the first 1,500 fans to purchase tickets received an exclusive Miles Teller “Rooster” mug wearing a Phillies cap.

With the 2017 Q&A PhillyVoice:, Teller discussed his love of sports and fond memories of growing up on the East Coast. When asked what he misses most about Philly, he said:

I just love the East Coast. The North East is simply a great place for sports. You go to a bar and talk to a girl, she can swing two or three relief pitchers, not to mention position players. It’s just part of the culture. And I miss blue crabs. My dad would always go to DiNardo’s and pick up a jumbo or two. I miss Old Bay being on top of everything. And then I grew up in Cape May, New Jersey for a long time. So I love the coast. Wow.”

Perhaps Teller will be next notable to grace Eagles Stadium this season.

Teller’s SNL hosting gig comes during a time of transition late night comedy sketch show.

The show recently saw a mass exodus, back eight cast members are leaving between seasons. Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat, Aristotle Attari and Chris Redd all announced their departures ahead of the show’s newest season.

Four new players were hired to fill the void: Marcelo Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker.

So far, SNL has announced Lineups for three consecutive shows: October 1st, October 8th and October 15th. Brandon Gleason will host on October 8 with musical guest Willow. Megan Thee Stallion will host and perform as the musical guest on October 15th.
